Couples counseling is a process through which a couple (who may be engaged, dating, married, partnered, divorced parents) works with a licensed therapist to identify specific areas of conflict and/or aspects of their relationship they would like to change. The couple and therapist then collaborate to develops a plan of action to improve each individual’s satisfaction and contentment.
I work hard to create an environment where both people feel safe to be the most authentic version of themselves and are comfortable exploring how their individual backgrounds, beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors may be impacting their relationship. I assist the couples I work with address any immediate and pressing problems, as well as help develop strategies for protecting and enhancing the long-term health and happiness of their relationship.
Relationship problems can have a serious impact on the other areas of your life, both positive and negative. Couples therapy can help you and your partner improve communication and connection while still having an identity outside of the relationship.
